Opportunity Overview
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is accepting applications for $750,000 in state funding supporting CPR training and automated external defibrillator purchase or maintenance. The controlling 2026-27 RFA and FAQ confirm three tracks and a rolling review process while funds remain.
Funding Tracks and Request Size
$500,000 is available for AED maintenance and/or purchases for eligible public and nonpublic school districts. $125,000 is available for CPR and AED training for eligible public and nonpublic school districts. A further $125,000 supports AED maintenance and/or purchases for eligible religious or charitable associations, libraries, and tribal entities.
KDHE’s FAQ states there is no minimum request and no grant cap. KDHE recommends requests generally in the $5,000-$40,000 range.
Eligibility and Timing
Applicants must have a registered and approved Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) with KDHE, and the RFA requires the CERP to have been reviewed within the prior year. School applications are submitted by the district office rather than by individual schools. A school district may include eligible AED purchase/maintenance and CPR/AED training costs in one application.
The first review begins October 1, 2026, and KDHE states applications will be reviewed approximately every three weeks thereafter while funds remain. The final online-survey deadline is April 30, 2027 at 12:00 PM, or earlier if the available funding is exhausted. The controlling RFA does not publish a time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Application Mechanics
Required support materials include a signed W-9, the qualifying CERP, and budget justification. The application itself is submitted through KDHE’s electronic survey, with supplemental documents submitted to KDHE.CERP@ks.gov. Funding is reimbursement-based after a fully executed contract. Eligible expenses must be incurred by June 30, 2027 and invoiced by July 31, 2027.
