Broad Eligibility

Applicants must be Texas-based institutions of higher education or components of a university system, with appropriately accredited degree-granting training programs when degree support is requested. The PI must hold an appropriate doctoral degree, be a full-time Texas resident during the research, and generally hold an Associate Professor or Professor-level appointment or institutional equivalent. The mechanism supports integrated institutional cancer-research training for predoctoral trainees, postdoctoral fellows and/or clinical fellows.

Atlas Analysis

A substantial five-year cancer-research workforce opportunity that can provide up to $800,000 annually for integrated training programs. CPRIT permits support for multiple trainee levels and research spanning basic, population-based, translational and clinical cancer research. The strongest applications will demonstrate a deep multidisciplinary mentor pool, broad research access, rigorous trainee selection and development, measurable career outcomes and a credible path toward independent cancer-research careers. Construction and renovation are not allowable and indirect costs are capped at 5% of the total award.
