2027 American Academy of Pediatrics CATCH Implementation Grants
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2027 Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) Implementation grant competition provides $10,000 per eligible individual clinician applicant for a 12-month community-based project increasing pediatric access to health services or child and adolescent well-being in the United States, territories or Canada.
Eligible Applicants
General pediatricians, pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, pediatric fellowship trainees and pediatric advanced practice providers who name a pediatrician as co-applicant may qualify. AAP national and chapter membership must be current before grant funds are disbursed. Current CATCH grantees cannot apply; previous grantees must have closed earlier CATCH awards. Applicants may submit only one of Planning or Implementation during the cycle. Projects must reach children beyond the applicant’s own practice setting and establish genuine local community partnerships.
Implementation Project Requirements
initial delivery or pilot testing of a novel community-based pediatric access or well-being service for children outside the applicant’s practice. Projects should demonstrate community partnership, youth/family engagement, clear health objectives, feasible outcome measurement and sustainability. Planning activities can be included when tied to initial implementation.
A special environmental-justice child-health priority is included within the regular CATCH competition and follows the same basic application requirements; applicants must explain the qualifying environmental issue and impact. It is not a separate unrestricted grant.
Funding and Restrictions
Each competitive award is $10,000 for a planned 12-month period beginning June 1, 2027; the funder does not state a universal cash matching requirement. No supplemental funding for existing programs, payments for billable clinical care, professional development, clinical trials/research, one-time health fairs, medical equipment/pharmaceuticals (limited oral-health exception), building construction/repairs, capital equipment such as computers/tablets, staff fringe benefits, indirect costs or fiscal-agent fees. Category-level ceilings include $7,000 personnel, $2,000 meetings, $4,000 participant expenses, $4,000 educational materials, $2,000 promotions and $3,500 technology development, with $10,000 overall project budget cap. The completed AAP budget spreadsheet must show justified line items and formulas. A tax-exempt fiscal agent is needed to manage award funds and a letter of intent from the proposed fiscal agent must accompany the application. The fiscal agent must be distinct from the individual grantee or co-grantee.
