Grant Overview
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is accepting competitive Round Ten applications for its Computer Science Supplementary Authorization Incentive Grant during FY2026–27. This state-funded financial-assistance program helps eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) prepare credentialed teachers to earn Introductory or Specific Computer Science Supplementary Authorizations and expand appropriate computer science instruction.
Applicant-Level Funding and State Pool
Each participating teacher may receive a one-time, nonrenewable grant-funded amount of up to $6,000. The current RFA states approximately $12.1 million remains in the program from the original $15 million appropriation. That figure is statewide funding, not an individual LEA award. A separately fixed per-LEA award maximum is not stated; LEA award size depends on approved participants and budget. Grant funds are available for encumbrance through June 30, 2030, followed by a two-year liquidation period.
Eligible Applicants and Priority
Eligible direct applicants are California LEAs, including school districts, county offices/superintendents of education, qualifying state-operated and state-agency K–12 programs, and authorized regional occupational centers/programs. Charter schools may participate through a qualifying LEA consortium but cannot apply directly under the Commission’s current Q&A. Funding priority recognizes teachers serving rural districts or schools with high proportions of unduplicated pupils.
Mandatory Matching Funds and Restrictions
An LEA must provide a one-third match for each grant dollar received, in eligible cash or in-kind administrative/coordination costs, release time or substitute teacher costs under the amended 2026 rules. Approved grant expenses include authorization-related coursework, books, fees, tuition, release time and substitute costs. Prohibited expenses include equipment, phones, laptops, instructional supplies, meals, facilities construction or remodeling, expenditures incurred before the grant award, and substitution of existing program funding. LEA indirect costs may not be charged to this grant.
Application Deadline and Requirements
Applications must reach the Commission by Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The controlling RFA does not expressly identify a time zone. The optional Intent to Apply date of September 4 has passed, but the Commission expressly states that not filing the optional form does not bar a full application. Submit one combined PDF by email to CSGrant@ctc.ca.gov, including Appendix C (cover), needs and program narratives, Appendix E (program summary), staffing, data reporting plans, budget, Appendix F (budget overview), and Appendix G (priority-point form). The Commission says applicants should receive an email acknowledging receipt.
