Open applicant-facing grant. Application deadline: October 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is inviting eligible rural school divisions and regional technical centers to apply for funding supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health and Medical Sciences pathways. The administering agency’s October 1, 2026, education bulletin does not specify a deadline time zone.
Funding
VDOE reports approximately $9,400,000 in overall Rural Health Transformation Program funding and an estimated $120,868 award per eligible applicant. The statewide allocation is not an individual award. Additional funding may be available depending on the number of applications received; final award terms and amounts are controlled by VDOE.
Eligible applicants
The competition is directed to the 75 rural Virginia school divisions and 3 regional technical centers identified by VDOE as eligible under the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy determination. Eligibility is restricted to the specified entities in the official Attachment A; applicants should verify their exact listing before applying.
Application materials
The application must not exceed 10 pages and must include a cover page, project narrative, budget, contact information, and a signed statement of assurance. The funding supports rural Health and Medical Sciences career pathways. Detailed allowable costs, matching requirements, and any additional conditions should be checked against the controlling application instructions; those details are not established by the short bulletin alone.
