The Idaho Department of Education is accepting applications for the Idaho Career Ready Students (ICRS) SY2026-2027 Micro-Grant to expand and strengthen Career Technical Education programs serving Idaho students in grades 7 through 12.
Funding and deadline
Up to $400,000 is available statewide, with individual awards of up to $20,000 for Idaho school districts and public charter schools. Awards are organized into three funding tiers, and 50 percent of the funding in each tier is initially reserved for qualified middle school programs.
The Idaho Department of Education current-cycle announcement states that applications close October 30, 2026. The authoritative materials reviewed by Atlas do not publish an exact cutoff time or time zone, so applicants should confirm the current application instructions before relying on a submission-time assumption.
Eligibility and eligible costs
Eligible applicants are Idaho school districts and public charter schools seeking to create or expand Career Technical Education programs that prepare students for local and regional workforce needs.
The Department identifies eligible uses that include capital expenditures to upgrade or expand CTE programs, such as machines, tools and other one-time purchases, as well as initial investments in program materials, consumable supplies and equipment specific to program instruction. Capital costs are eligible only when expressly permitted under the applicable grant cycle.
Competitive scoring favors durable equipment, program development, sustainable investments, responsiveness to workforce needs, industry and community partnerships, and proposals from applicants that face challenges accessing resources needed to sustain high quality CTE programming.
Atlas analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 90/100. N9+ Fit Score: 84/100 conditional. The opportunity can be a strong fit for an eligible health professions or nursing CTE project when a remote physical examination platform is a defensible instructional equipment need and the current application permits the proposed cost. Atlas will not force N9+ into unrelated CTE programs.
Outreach control: Publication does not authorize applicant outreach. Because the exact October 30 cutoff time and time zone are not published in the authoritative materials reviewed, new ORIGINAL outreach remains fail-closed until that timing is authoritatively established and all applicant, contact, deduplication, opt-out, bounce, attachment and send-history gates are satisfied.
