Broad Eligibility

Lead Applicant must be California-based and an eligible Tribe, Tribally-owned nonprofit, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public/local agency, special district, joint powers authority, public utility, local publicly owned utility, or mutual water company. Planning Grants generally require at least one Co-Applicant and relevant public-agency support, subject to Tribal flexibility in the Guidelines.

The California Strategic Growth Council Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Round 6 Planning Grants fund community-led planning in California disadvantaged and Tribal communities. Approximately $900,000 is available for three awards of up to $300,000 each, with a two-year grant term. Eligible work includes community engagement, climate-action planning, policy/code work, capacity building, partnership development, community-needs assessment, feasibility work and other preparation for future implementation.

Healthcare and school partners can participate when they are part of an eligible community-led collaborative, but this Planning grant does not fund an immediate N9+ equipment deployment. Any N9+/QC role should be limited to defensible planning for a future health-equity or community-care strategy.
