Broad Eligibility

Virginia nonprofit licensed EMS agencies and other Virginia emergency medical service organizations operating on a nonprofit basis for the benefit of the general public under Virginia Code §32.1-111.12. Applicants must satisfy the current RSAF policies, match requirements, scoring criteria, quotes, signatures and E-GIFT submission requirements.

The Virginia Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services is accepting Fall 2026 Rescue Squads Assistance Fund applications from nonprofit licensed EMS agencies and other qualifying Virginia EMS organizations. The competitive matching program can support establishment or expansion of EMS services, replacement or procurement of equipment, vehicles, computers and EMS management programs, training, and recruitment or retention projects.

The Fall 2026 announcement sets a 12-month grant period from January 1 through December 31, 2027. Applications must be submitted through E-GIFT with itemized quotes, Federal Identification Number verification, appropriate e-signatures and other required documentation. Awards for commonly requested vehicles and equipment will not exceed the applicable category amount in the consolidated product price list or available statewide contract.
