Opportunity Overview
Central Minnesota Community Foundation, a CommunityGiving partner foundation, is accepting 2026 applications for the Central Minnesota Special Needs Grants. The program supports services and equipment that directly benefit people with complex intellectual and physical disabilities in eligible Central Minnesota communities.
Funding and Deadline
Individual grants range from $5,000 to $10,000. The 2026 application window opened September 1, 2026 and closes October 31, 2026. CommunityGiving states that all grant applications must be submitted online by midnight on the deadline. The current official pages do not publish a time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Eligibility and Geography
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, schools, and government entities. Funded work must serve residents of Benton County, Stearns County, Sherburne County, the Kimball community within school district defined boundaries, and/or the Watkins community within school district defined boundaries.
Eligible Uses and Restrictions
The Foundation supports capital purchases for individual client needs and program support for individual services. Priority is given to programs, services, equipment, projects, and other activities that directly affect clients with complex intellectual and physical disabilities. Favorable consideration is also given to projects supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The current official guidance says the program typically does not fund individuals, religious organizations for religious purposes, political organizations or campaigns, event sponsorships or annual fundraising drives, multi year requests, endowments, debt retirement, completed or retroactive projects, individual postsecondary scholarships, grants solely for staff travel or conferences, or replacement of government funding that has been reduced or eliminated. The public grant page does not state a mandatory applicant match or cost share requirement.
Application and Submission
Applications must be submitted through the CommunityGiving Grant Management System. The Grant Advisory Committee recommends applications for funding to the Board of Directors, and the Board makes final funding decisions. Award notifications are sent by email. After award, the required documents are a Grant Agreement and Final Report, with a Progress Report if requested. The current public grant page does not enumerate separate pre application attachments, so applicants should follow the live Grant Management System prompts and current Foundation instructions.
Strategic Fit
Atlas Opportunity Score: 86/100. This is a clearly scoped, currently open Minnesota foundation opportunity with defined applicant classes, geography, award range, eligible uses, and an online application pathway. The modest award ceiling and locally limited geography constrain scale.
N9+ Fit: 35/100 conditional. The Nonagon N9+ device and platform should not be forced into this program. A possible fit exists only if an eligible organization documents a direct client need in which remote physical examination capability is integral to an approved disability service or equipment project and the Foundation confirms the cost is eligible.
QC Healthcare Fit: 20/100 conditional. A healthcare implementation role could exist only inside an eligible applicant led project with a verified direct client benefit. The current grant does not establish a general healthcare vendor pathway.
Dr. Miltie direct applicant fit: not eligible on current evidence. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, school, or government entity. A vendor or partner role could arise only through an eligible grantee and compliant project budget.
