The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Foundation is accepting 2026 applications for the Mary & Gene Levens Excellence in Teaching Grant. The program recognizes teachers who develop creative teaching solutions and demonstrate leadership and commitment to student learning.

Applicants must be teachers from the Long Beach Public School System or St. Vincent DePaul Elementary School and must complete the Gulf Coast Community Foundation application.
Eligible Uses and Payment
The award may be used to purchase classroom supplies, materials, technology, equipment, or furnishings, or to pay for experiences that benefit the class or students. The precise use is at the teacher’s discretion but must benefit the classroom or students. The grant is paid by the Foundation directly to the school or district on behalf of the teacher. The Foundation notes that an award paid directly to a teacher may be treated as taxable income.
