The Oregon Office of Rural Health at Oregon Health & Science University administers the Oregon Partnership State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP), a healthcare workforce program funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration with Oregon Health Authority matching funds. OHSU announced that the current cycle reopened July 1, 2026. The current program page provides a live application and does not publish a hard closing date, clock time, or time zone.
Funding
For an initial minimum two year service commitment, full time physical health providers may receive up to $75,000 total, generally up to $37,500 per year. Full time dental and behavioral health providers may receive up to $50,000 total, generally up to $25,000 per year. Half time physical health providers may receive up to $37,500 total, while half time dental and behavioral health providers may receive up to $25,000 total. Awards are also limited by qualifying educational debt and applicable federal limits. OHSU states that current funding does not require a practice site match.
Who can apply
Eligible provider types include qualifying allopathic and osteopathic physicians, primary care nurse practitioners, primary care physician associates, certified nurse midwives, dentists, dental therapists, expanded practice dental hygienists, behavioral health professionals, psychiatric nurse specialists, registered nurses, pharmacists, qualifying CADC III professionals, and registered dietitians with a master’s degree. Applicants must meet the program’s citizenship or national status, licensure, qualifying educational debt, service obligation, and practice site requirements.
Practice site requirements
The provider must work at an Oregon SLRP approved practice site. The current program requires qualifying sites to be nonprofit public or private entities located in a Health Professional Shortage Area, provide eligible outpatient primary medical, mental or behavioral health, and or dental services, maintain required free or reduced fee access for qualifying low income patients, accept applicable public insurance, serve patients regardless of ability to pay, comply with nondiscrimination requirements, and have an Oregon Office of Rural Health Site Application on file that is no more than two years old when the provider applies.
Submission
OHSU provides the current SLRP provider application through its official program page. Applicants should confirm that their profession, educational debt, professional license, service status, and practice site all satisfy the current requirements before applying. Continuation awards may be available after the initial service commitment in one year increments, but OHSU states that continuation funding is not guaranteed.
