Opportunity Overview
Wyoming maternal-health workforce opportunity. The University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences Rural Health Institute, in partnership with UC San Diego, is offering tuition assistance through the Wyoming Lactation Workforce Program to expand lactation-care capacity across Wyoming.
Funding
The Rural Health Institute will cover the full cost of the UCSD Pathway 2 lactation education program plus the cost of the IBLCE certification exam. Two Wyoming residents will be selected each year for three years, for six awardees in total. The University does not state a separate dollar-equivalent award ceiling on the controlling program page, so Atlas does not convert the benefit into an unsupported cash amount.
Application Timing
Attendees of the September 2–3, 2026 Wyoming Maternal Health Summit received early access to the application. The application opens to the general public on September 21, 2026, and all applications are due November 13, 2026. The controlling University page does not publish an exact closing time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Who the Program Is For
The program selects Wyoming residents pursuing the UCSD Pathway 2 route toward IBCLC certification. The University describes qualified candidates as including nurses and other allied health professionals and gives preference to candidates committed to practicing in underserved or frontier areas of Wyoming after certification.
Selection into the Wyoming Lactation Workforce Program does not itself guarantee admission to UCSD Pathway 2. Selected individuals must separately submit the required UCSD application, transcripts, prerequisites, and other admissions materials and remain subject to UCSD review.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 76/100. This is a targeted but meaningful Wyoming maternal and infant health workforce investment, particularly for rural and frontier communities where lactation-care capacity is limited.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. This opportunity pays for lactation education and the certification exam. The published rules do not establish a pathway for Nonagon N9+ device, platform, telehealth, or remote-exam costs, so Atlas does not force an N9+ fit.
Direct vendor review: No Bid for Dr. Miltie and QC Healthcare. Awards are tuition assistance for qualifying Wyoming residents pursuing lactation certification, not a vendor procurement or organizational technology grant.
