Opportunity Overview
Verified open West Virginia school and STEAM education funding opportunity, with deadline time-zone verification still incomplete. The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History currently lists STEAM Power WV Round Two as open. The program supports PK-12 education projects that integrate the arts with science, technology, engineering, and/or math.
Funding and Match
Applicants may request up to $7,500. The current FY27 sample application states that the grant may cover 75% of total project expenses and requires a 25% cash match.
Deadline and Verification Hold
The official Arts Grants page and current FY27 sample application both state a Round Two deadline of October 1, 2026 at 4:59 PM. Neither source states the controlling time zone. Because Atlas requires the exact deadline time zone before publication or new-applicant outreach, this record remains in Draft / VERIFICATION HOLD. Do not infer a time zone from the issuer’s location.
Eligibility and Program Scope
The current sample application identifies public and private PK-12 schools, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, and public libraries as eligible. Projects must integrate arts with one or more STEM disciplines for PK-12 students. School applicants must coordinate with their county board of education to determine the correct legal applicant where required.
Eligible Costs and Scoring
Eligible expenses include contracted artist or professional fees, travel, materials, and supplies directly related to the project. The current sample application scores Project Objectives, Project Budget, Project Narrative, STEAM Power WV Priorities, and Artistic and Academic Excellence at 10 points each, with two possible 2-point bonuses for an ARC at-risk or distressed county and for applicants that have not received STEAM Power WV funding in the last five years.
Application Requirements
Applications must be submitted online through GOapply. The current sample application requires a West Virginia vendor number, EFT authorization, project narrative, objectives, timeline, project budget, income and matching funds, required expense documentation, and a certification/signature page. Required attachment examples include signed contracts or letters of agreement for contracted professional fees and documentation of anticipated travel, supplies, and materials expenses. Attachments must be PDF and no larger than 10 MB. Optional support materials are limited to four documents and should be combined as directed by the application.
Atlas Fit Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 88/100. Strong West Virginia PK-12 education and STEM relevance with clear applicant classes, scoring criteria, and a defined award ceiling.
N9+ Fit Score: 15/100. A healthcare-technology demonstration could conceivably be part of a properly designed STEAM curriculum, but the controlling program is arts-integrated STEM education, not healthcare delivery, telehealth, diagnostics, or procurement of a clinical platform. Atlas should not force an N9+ pathway. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. Dr. Miltie direct-applicant/vendor fit: 0/100 because the verified applicant classes are schools, qualifying nonprofits, and public libraries, and a 25% cash match is required.
Submission Method
Submit through the GOapply portal linked from the official West Virginia Arts Grants page. Use the current FY27 STEAM Power WV sample application and live portal as controlling application materials.
