Broad Eligibility

The award supports institutional core facilities that directly strengthen cancer research in Texas. The facility-director PI must hold an appropriate doctoral degree, reside in Texas while the research is conducted, hold a qualifying faculty or equivalent appointment at an accredited academic institution, and commit at least 10% effort. A Texas-based investigator user group must be identified. Institutions generally may submit only one application under this RFA in the cycle, with a limited exception for certain childhood/adolescent cancer or population-science facilities.

Atlas Analysis

A high-value cancer-research infrastructure opportunity because CPRIT permits up to $2 million for instruments, installation, limited first-year renovation, maintenance and service contracts, facility leadership and technical staff, and selected research-use support. CPRIT gives special consideration to facilities serving investigators at multiple Texas research institutions, particularly TREC-eligible institutions. The strongest proposals will show a clearly documented research user base, differentiated capabilities, measurable regional value and a durable institutional sustainability plan.
