Opportunity Overview
Open now to eligible Nebraska schools and youth-serving organizations. KidsGardening is accepting applications for the 2027 Youth Garden Grant to create or improve educational garden programs serving young people. The Nebraska Department of Education School Nutrition Programs grants page currently directs schools to KidsGardening grant opportunities.
Funding
KidsGardening expects to award $750 to 30-50 school and youth educational garden programs. Five selected grantees will also receive the Crescent Garden Container Gardening Award, a container-gardening package valued at $1,970. All grantees also receive seeds from a program sponsor.
Eligibility
Any organization in the United States or U.S. territories planning a new garden program or improving an existing garden program that serves at least 15 youth ages 0-18 may apply. Applicants must support, work with, or serve under-resourced communities, have at least 15 youth participate, and have received less than $5,000 in grants for the garden program in 2026. Organizations that received any listed KidsGardening grant in 2025 or 2026 are not eligible.
Deadline and Required Materials
Applications are due Friday, December 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. A current photo of the garden site is required. Optional attachments include a garden sketch, land survey or scale map, video, and letter of support.
