Opportunity Overview
The Nebraska Arts Council School Bus for the Arts Grants help Nebraska PK-12 students attend professional arts and cultural experiences. Eligible costs can include transportation, admission fees, and associated workshop fees for field trips to professional concerts, dance or theatre performances, museums, cultural exhibits, and similar arts programs.
Current Funding Cycle
Nebraska Arts Council is currently accepting FY2026-2027 floating-deadline applications for projects taking place from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Applications are reviewed in the order received and the program closes once available funds have been awarded.
Deadline
Applications are due at least six weeks before the event date. This is a rolling relative deadline rather than a fixed calendar cutoff.
Funding
Maximum annual awards are based on the number of students served: up to $400 for 1-100 students, $600 for 101-200 students, $800 for 201-400 students, and $1,000 for more than 401 students. The program is reimbursement-based. The current official program page does not state a separate matching-funds requirement.
Eligible Applicants
Nebraska-accredited public or private schools and nonprofit organizations that serve pre-K-12 students are eligible. School districts may use the Central Office Application process to include multiple schools in one application after contacting Nebraska Arts Council staff.
Eligible Uses and Restrictions
Funding may support transportation, admission, and associated workshop fees for qualifying professional arts or cultural field trips. Student competitions and student performance travel are not eligible. Priority is given to schools and communities with limited access to arts and cultural programs because of geography, economic conditions, ethnic background, or disability.

Applicants submit through the Nebraska Arts Council online grant system. Districts seeking to use the Central Office Application process should contact Nebraska Arts Council before applying.
