Walmart and Sam’s Club Spark Good Local Grants — FY27 Cycle 3

Walmart U.S. stores, Sam’s Clubs, and distribution centers offer competitive cash grants of $250 to $5,000 per approved applicant request for nonprofit and public-benefit projects serving the same local communities as the specific facility receiving the application. This is an applicant-facing financial assistance program, not a procurement solicitation or a donation of products.

Application window and individual funding

FY27 Cycle 3 accepts applications August 1 through December 31, 2026. The controlling Walmart program page does not publish a closing time or time zone for December 31; submit ahead of the final date. The same official page lists FY27 Cycle 1 (February 1–April 15) and Cycle 2 (May 1–July 15), both already closed. Grant amounts are $250–$5,000 per individual local grant. An overall program funding pool and mandatory cost-sharing percentage are not published in the current program instructions.

Who is eligible

Applicants must serve the geographic area of the Walmart store, Sam’s Club, or distribution center from which they seek funding and must have a Spark Good Account verified by Walmart’s third-party partner, Deed. Eligible organization categories include IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charities, qualifying government agencies, eligible public or nonprofit private schools and colleges with NCES number or 501(c)(3) status, and faith-based organizations when their proposed projects directly benefit the broader community.

Examples of ineligible categories include 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6), and 501(c)(19) entities, 509(a)(3) Type I/II/III supporting organizations, homeowners associations, civic leagues, volunteer fire companies, and government entities not recognized in the referenced IRS verification data. Walmart also applies verification and program-conduct requirements.

Program conditions and payment

Funding supports a locally relevant charitable project or community program in a facility’s service area. Organizations can have no more than 25 pending or approved applications across facilities at one time. After receiving a grant from a specific facility, the organization cannot reapply to that facility again in the same Walmart fiscal year. Applications are competitive, and facility decisions are discretionary.

Selected applicants must affirm applicable program guidelines and recognition/logo requirements. Walmart states that recommended grant recipients receive electronic grant payments through JP Morgan after the organization’s authorized user supplies required banking details within 21 days of the award notification. This program is cash assistance, not an in-kind request for gift cards or goods. The current public guidelines do not publish a universal reimbursement-only condition.

How to apply

Review Walmart’s current Spark Good Local Grants guidelines, create or access the organization’s Spark Good account, complete Deed verification, select a participating Walmart/Sam’s Club/distribution-center facility serving the organization’s community, complete the application with requested amount, proposed project title and description, and accept the eligibility and program guidelines. Check all entries before submission because the official application walkthrough cautions that edits cannot be made after submitting.
