Opportunity Overview
The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation Youth Choice Awards have opened a second 2026 round for youth-led projects serving Flint schools, youth organizations and the community. Mott states that the centennial initiative consists of 100 grants of $1,926 each. Fifty grants were awarded in the first round, leaving 50 awards for Round 2, an implied remaining award pool of $96,300.
Deadline and Submission
The application deadline is October 9, 2026. The controlling Mott application page does not publish a submission clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one. Applications are submitted through the online form on the official Youth Choice Awards page.
Eligibility
Eligible participants are K-12 students who attend a school within Flint city limits, attend a school that is part of the Network for School Excellence, or participate in a program at a Flint community-based organization with at least 10 actively enrolled students and 501(c)(3) status. Schools and nonprofit organizations may seek support for up to three projects, and first-round recipients may apply again. An adult advisor or teacher must submit each project, and the applicant confirms approval from the school principal or nonprofit executive director.
Application Requirements
The official form requests the school, district or organization legal name; a short organization description; Tax ID/EIN; teacher or advisor name and email; address; youth participant description; project title and narrative; beneficiary description; a project budget totaling $1,926; project start and completion dates; principal or executive-director name, email and phone; and optional photo-release confirmation.
Funding Rules and Procurement
Mott does not publish a mandatory match or cost-share requirement, separate vendor registration, procurement requirement, reference requirement, addenda process, or detailed eligible/ineligible cost schedule on the controlling public page. Applicants should therefore use the live application and any direct instructions from Mott as controlling. Round 1 examples included mentoring, arts activities, a mental-health initiative, a youth business pop-up, an in-classroom food pantry, a school sound system and LED lighting, and an educational trip, demonstrating broad project flexibility without creating a general vendor-procurement pathway.
Atlas Strategic Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 72/100. This is a legitimate Flint K-12 and youth-development opportunity with a simple application and clear fixed award amount, but the microgrant size limits large-scale healthcare or technology projects.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The program is youth-led community and school project funding, not a telehealth, remote physical examination, clinical-device or healthcare-procurement program. Although a mental-health initiative was among first-round projects, that does not establish a defensible Nonagon N9+ or QC Healthcare pathway. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not an eligible prime applicant or direct bidder under the published structure.
