Funding and deadline
The state describes a formula consisting of a $2,000 base amount for every district and charter school plus a prorated amount based on the prior year’s Average Daily Attendance, roughly $12 per student. Each district or charter school’s actual current-year allocation is listed in its SDFS Application Form, so Atlas does not infer a universal applicant maximum.
Districts and schools must submit the annual SDFS application by December 31, 2026. The public Idaho Department of Education page does not publish a clock time or time zone for that deadline.
Eligibility, use of funds, and submission
Eligible recipients are Idaho school districts and public charter schools. The application is accessed through ISEE after assignment of the SDFS user role. Idaho DOE states that expenses must follow the statutory purpose of developing and implementing school-safety improvements and/or facilitating and providing substance-abuse prevention programs in the public-school system. If allowability is uncertain, applicants should confirm with Idaho DOE before making purchases.
Funding is generated through tobacco-product taxes and lottery winnings and is therefore revenue-dependent. Idaho DOE states that approved applications are funded as revenue is available, with distributions typically made twice annually.
