The HHS Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) has opened the UNifying Imaging with QUantum Entanglement (UNIQUE) Innovative Solutions Opening, Notice ID ARPA-H-SOL-26-162. UNIQUE seeks a new biomedical-imaging paradigm that combines anatomical, functional, molecular, and quantum-derived information so disease-related biological changes can be detected and interpreted earlier than with current imaging approaches.
The program has two technical areas. TA1 Imaging Core focuses on the physical systems needed to generate and measure quantum observables in clinically relevant settings, including quantum-correlated photon production and collection, engineered source materials and nanomaterials, quantum-aware detectors, and methods that use decoherence and correlation loss as possible sources of biological contrast. TA2 Quantum AI Interpretation and Fusion focuses on physics-informed AI, quantum-aware reconstruction, multimodal data fusion, uncertainty quantification, and real-time interpretation of multidimensional quantum observables.
A Solution Summary is required before a full proposal. Solution Summaries are due October 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, and Full Proposals are due December 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. ARPA-H anticipates multiple Other Transaction agreements. The controlling solicitation and attachments are maintained on SAM.gov, and submission is through the ARPA-H Solutions portal. An optional Proposers’ Day is scheduled for October 15, with registration required by October 13 under separate Special Notice ARPA-H-SN-26-162.
Atlas Opportunity Score: 52/100. N9+ Fit: 8/100. UNIQUE has substantial medical-imaging and AI relevance, but the core requirements are quantum science, radiological sciences, biomedical imaging, engineering, materials science, and quantum-aware computation. Dr. Miltie should not be advanced as a prime or technical contributor without documented capability directly relevant to those disciplines.
