Open now. The Delaware Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Next Generation — Northern Delaware Early Childhood Development Grant, supporting initiatives that address early childhood development needs facing vulnerable Delawareans in New Castle County.
Deadline and funding
DCF’s current 2026 grants page says the opportunity opened August 24, 2026 and closes September 25, 2026. The current public page does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not invent one.
DCF states that the Next Gen North grant total is $7,500. The application currently linked from the 2026 grants page is labeled 2025 and states a maximum request of $7,500. Applicants should confirm the ceiling and any changed fields inside the live 2026 portal before submission.
Eligibility and program scope
DCF’s general eligibility requires qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Delaware residents. The currently linked application specifies early childhood development programming for children birth through age 5 and allows New Castle County or statewide service areas. DCF’s current program description emphasizes vulnerable Delawareans in New Castle County.
DCF general exclusions include individuals, non-501(c)(3) organizations, public or tuition-based educational institutions, ordinary office equipment and standard operating technology costs, vehicles, endowment, debt reduction, annual fundraising, projects completed before June of the current year and special events.
Application requirements
The currently linked application requests organization and program information, mission and operating budget, total program budget, requested amount, target population, program design, staff qualifications, collaborations, goals and evaluation, use of funds, sustainability, other funding and board/staff demographic information.
Required uploads shown in that application include a one-page program budget, organization budget and most recent balance sheet, board list, 501(c)(3) determination letter and bank verification for ACH payment. Typed certifications are required from the applicant organization’s Executive Director or CEO and the person completing the application.
No mandatory match or cost share is stated on the current public DCF page or the linked application reviewed by Atlas. The form does ask applicants to describe leveraging or matching opportunities and other funding.
Submission
Applications are submitted through the Delaware Community Foundation online grant portal. Because the public page does not publish a closing time, applicants should submit before September 25 rather than assume an end-of-day cutoff.
Atlas strategy
Atlas Opportunity Score: 81/100. The opportunity is relevant to pediatric and early-childhood organizations in New Castle County, but the small award and general-purpose scope limit broader healthcare deployment potential.
N9+ Fit: 10/100. Do not force the Nonagon N9+ device and platform into this grant. A legitimate role would require a specific eligible nonprofit clinical program, confirmed technology allowability and a direct connection to early-childhood care delivery.
QC Healthcare Fit: 15/100, conditional. A services role would require an eligible nonprofit project with a verified clinical-services need and allowable contracted costs.
Direct Dr. Miltie posture: not eligible as the grant applicant under DCF’s published 501(c)(3) rule. Publication and eligible-applicant intelligence are appropriate; broad cold outreach is not warranted without a stronger verified clinical fit.
