Broad Eligibility

The FY2027 Cycle 2 Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer Award is intended for Texas institutions whose campus is located more than 100 miles from an NCI-Designated Cancer Center. The award supports an established investigator leading a cohesive regional cancer research program with three to five research projects. Funding may also support recruitment of junior faculty, shared resources, and partnerships with established Texas cancer research programs for mentorship, facilities, or expertise.

Best fit is an eligible academic or health-system research institution outside the major NCI-center catchments that already has a credible cancer research leader, a coherent multi-project program, institutional commitment, and partnership strategy.
