National Theater Project Presenter Travel Grant — Rolling
The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) offers financial assistance for qualified U.S.-based arts presenters, curatorial staff and recipients of existing National Theater Project (NTP) Creation & Touring Grants to travel in support of the potential touring and promotion of currently eligible NTP-supported theater projects. NEFA states the NTP Creation & Touring Grant concluded in its original format, but its Presenter Travel Grant continues to be listed with a rolling deadline. Funding is tied to an eligible NTP theater project, not general travel, theater production or procurement.
Applicant Grant Amount and Cost Share
Individual travel awards generally range from $700–$1,000, with a $1,500 maximum. NEFA may reimburse up to 70% of total eligible trip expenses for travel by up to two people; applicants are responsible for at least 30% or other unawarded costs. Eligible budget items include automobile mileage, economy travel, lodging, meals, ticket admissions and qualifying showcase/conference registration. NEFA provides per-diem or actual-receipt treatment for meals and incidentals. The $1,500 maximum applies to typical travel within the contiguous United States; applicants traveling to or from Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. territories must consult NEFA staff for applicable limits. NEFA has not published a fixed overall current program funding pool on the controlling page.
Who Is Eligible
Eligible applicants include arts presenting organizations and curatorial staff considering eligible NTP projects for presentation. Current or former eligible NTP Creation & Touring Grant recipients may apply, or invite an eligible third party to apply, to promote and advance the touring of their NTP-funded work, including visiting potential presenters, industry gatherings and convenings or arranging reviews. NTP Creation & Touring grantees may receive at most 10 Presenter Travel Grants per supported project for their own travel. Applicant organizations must supply an IRS W-9 and SAM.gov Unique Entity Identifier (UEI); every recipient must supply a W-9.
Rolling Applications and Obligations
The program lists a rolling deadline rather than a single calendar close date. NEFA encourages applicants to submit at least 10 days before departure, and notes that funding decisions can take three to five weeks. To avoid relying on too-short lead times, organizations should plan the application as early as possible and confirm realistic decision timing directly with staff. After travel, the recipient must submit a travel report and eligible receipts or per-diem records within one month. NEFA encourages applicants to coordinate with the relevant theater artist or team to confirm project eligibility and secure information for the report. Payment is reimbursement-based, not a guaranteed advance.
Official Application Guidance
Review the official NEFA National Theater Project Presenter Travel guidelines, verify that the targeted theater production remains eligible for NTP-related support, and confirm the appropriate application route with NEFA before committing travel expenses. Funder instructions independently reviewed November 6, 2026. No fixed end date or unspecified time zone is invented.
