FY2027 Paralyzed Veterans of America Education Foundation — Education Project Grants
The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Education Foundation is accepting FY2027 applications for competitive education project grants of up to $75,000 per organizational applicant. The foundation supports educational projects that improve the health, independence, quality of life, and care of people with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D), including multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This is applicant-facing nonprofit financial assistance, not a federal allocation or procurement contract.
Who may apply
Eligible applicant institutions are not-for-profit academic institutions, healthcare institutions, associations, and other organizations located in the United States or Canada. An application must be filed by a fiscally responsible eligible organization in the name of an employed Project Director with at least a bachelor’s degree and relevant SCI, MS or ALS experience. The project director may submit one application per grant cycle. The foundation does not fund for-profit businesses. An organization or project director holding an active PVA Education Foundation award may not apply again until that award has been closed after final reporting.
Eligible projects, budget and restrictions
Relevant project categories include consumer, caregiver and community education; health professional development and education; and research translation that moves existing research into practical use. Grants run for one 12-month project year. Each funded project must engage at least one person living with SCI/D, MS or ALS as an identified advocate in project development, implementation and evaluation, with the required biographical information and budget justification. Budget items must relate directly to the project. Travel is limited to $2,000; project equipment is limited to $7,500; the foundation permits institutional indirect costs of no more than 8% of direct expenditures, included within the $75,000 award maximum. Patient-care services, building construction or maintenance, general office equipment and staff tuition reimbursement are ineligible. The FY2027 policies do not state a required matching-funds percentage; applicants should verify any category-specific portal terms.
