Vocational Fund for Alaska’s Future — 2026–2027 Grant Cycle
Open November 1–December 13, 2026. Applications close December 13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.; the funder does not specify a time zone. The Alaska Community Foundation administers competitive financial-assistance awards for Alaska-serving vocational and technical training projects that build skills relevant to resource development, trades, and technical industries. These are applicant grants, not government purchasing contracts.
Individual award and eligibility
Individual applicant awards: $10,000–$50,000. Up to $250,000 is available across the entire cycle; that total is not an individual award. Alaska Community Foundation standard eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) public charities, fiscally sponsored charitable organizations, Tribes and Tribal entities, K–12 schools, local governments, collaborations of nonprofit and public entities, and other eligible charitable-purpose entities. Organizations headquartered outside Alaska can qualify by demonstrating meaningful Alaska service or working with a local partner. Excluded designations include private nonoperating foundations and 501(c)(4), (6), (7), and (19) organizations. Specific funder rules govern all eligibility decisions.
Supported activities and priorities
Projects may provide hands-on vocational training, industry credentials, employment pathways, instruction, training equipment, and needs-based scholarships for participants in eligible vocational programs. Examples include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, mining, engineering, and geology skills. Projects throughout Alaska may qualify. The funder especially encourages Alaska Native village and Tribal organizations; preferences include Bristol Bay service, industry and union partnerships, overcoming travel or participation barriers, and other financial or in-kind contributions. The latter are preferences, not a stated mandatory cost-share percentage.
Restrictions, project period, and application
Projects must start no earlier than January 1, 2027 and end by December 31, 2027; extensions may be requested. Pre-award expenditures are not reimbursable. Standard Alaska Community Foundation rules exclude lobbying, electioneering, endowments, construction, and real-property purchases. Applicants with active awards must finish their existing project before seeking additional funds. Apply through the Alaska Community Foundation’s grant portal during the published window; the online application is estimated to require 3–4 hours. Review the complete program listing and standard eligibility page before preparing the proposal.
