Aberdeen Area Community Foundation Community Grants: December 2026 Review

The Aberdeen Area Community Foundation (AACF) accepts charitable project grant requests throughout the year for nonprofit organizations benefiting Aberdeen and surrounding South Dakota communities. Supported fields include economic development, human services, health, education and cultural programming. Applications received by November 30, 2026 are eligible for consideration at the December quarterly meeting. This is a nonprofit project funding program, not a procurement contract.

Who can apply

Nonprofit and charitable organizations serving the Aberdeen area are eligible; for-profit organizations are expressly excluded. Partnerships of organizations may qualify if a single organization is accountable for communications and grant stewardship. Projects should demonstrate a real local need, a credible plan, prepared budgets, strong organizational structure and preferably community volunteer support.

Funding, restrictions and match

The funder does not publish a universal individual grant maximum or minimum. Grants cannot be used for general operating expenses or loans. Most awards fund one year rather than multi-year commitments. Matching resources are favored, and AACF may condition a particular grant on a challenge match, but there is no blanket numeric matching ratio. Ordinarily only one grant request per organization is approved per calendar year.

Application and reporting

Download AACF’s official application, review the funder’s board-approved two-page grant-making guidelines and email the completed form to info@aberdeencommunityfoundation.com. Applications are accepted year-round, but regular decisions are taken in March, June, September and December, using the last day of the preceding month as a regular meeting cutoff. A successful applicant must file a final project report; another application is not considered until that report is submitted.
