The Treacy Foundation is accepting Montana capital grant requests for capital campaigns, capital asset improvements, and maintenance.
Current availability: requests of $10,000 or less may be submitted at any time when addressing an emergency situation. Requests over $10,000 may be submitted for the current grant cycle through October 1, 2026 at 12:00 PM; the Foundation does not state a time zone on the controlling page. However, requests over $10,000 require a one-page Letter of Intent at least three weeks before the application deadline. As of September 16, 2026, that LOI window has passed for new applicants to the October 1 cycle, so Atlas will not treat the over-$10,000 cycle as open to new cold applicants. Organizations already invited after a timely LOI may continue to the full application.
Eligibility: the Foundation focuses on Montana. The published application requires an applicant to provide its own IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter; tax-exempt governmental entities or agencies may instead provide a letter verifying public status. Pass-through grants are not allowed. School districts and public healthcare entities may fit where they meet the public-status and project requirements.
Pre-application funding gate: the Letter of Intent must state total project cost, amount requested, funds already on hand and their source, and other pending funding. The Foundation requires applicants to have raised or committed at least 50% of the total project cost before submitting an application.
Full application materials: invited applicants must provide the Foundation’s application, a specific project budget, Balance Sheets and Profit and Loss statements for the two most recent fiscal years covering the same reporting periods (990PFs and audited books are not accepted), the applicant’s own IRS 501(c)(3) letter or governmental public-status verification, other funding sources, organizational and project information, implementation capacity, fundraising plan, prior Treacy funding history if applicable, and board members where applicable. Applications are accepted by mail or email.
Material restrictions: the Foundation will not fund operating expenses or salaries, travel or meals, political organizations/candidates/campaigns, non-charitable organizations, grants or loans to individuals, debt reduction, pass-through grants, electronics, vehicles, or projects where the applicant does not own the facility or building.
Healthcare and school relevance: this is a legitimate capital-funding source for eligible Montana nonprofit and public healthcare, human-service, and school organizations with owned-facility capital needs. Because electronics are expressly excluded, Atlas does not treat N9+ or other electronic clinical technology as an allowable cost under the published rules.
