Opportunity Overview
The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, Inc. is accepting applications for its 2026–2027 21st Century Instructional Initiatives Grants. Awards support innovative projects not funded by the normal school or office budget and must align with BCPS academic goals, the Foundation mission and the school progress plan.
Funding and Deadline
Applicants may request up to $2,000 per project. Applications must be submitted electronically on or before September 25, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The official program page and grant guidelines do not publish a time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be BCPS professional personnel who work directly with students, including teachers, school counselors, media specialists and nurses. Team proposals must designate a project coordinator with overall administrative responsibility.
Eligible Project Themes and Costs
Projects must address at least one identified 21st century theme: Financial, Economic, Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy; Health Literacy; Environmental Literacy; Civic Literacy; Arts and Culture; Global Awareness; or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The guidelines allow supported project costs such as materials, equipment, services, travel, participation in events and activities, consulting fees and speaker honoraria when justified in the project budget. BCPS personnel expenses are not allowable, and grant funds may not replace normal tax based funding.
Application Package
The application includes a cover sheet, a project description limited to two typed pages, a plan of action and timeline, measurable objectives and outcomes, research based instructional methods, an evaluation plan and a detailed proposed budget. Funded projects must later submit a final project summary and storyboard. No mandatory applicant match or cost share is identified in the published guidelines.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 88/100. This is a well defined, currently open Maryland school funding opportunity with an express Health Literacy pathway and clear application mechanics.
N9+ Fit Score: 40/100. Health Literacy, equipment and technology can support limited school health concepts, but the $2,000 ceiling and instructional focus do not establish the Nonagon N9+ device and platform as an expected or automatically allowable purchase. Atlas should not force N9+ into this grant; any such concept would require a school led instructional rationale and Foundation confirmation.
Next Action
Eligible BCPS professional personnel should select a project aligned with a listed theme, confirm alignment with the school progress plan, build the required project narrative and measurable outcomes, prepare a detailed budget, and submit electronically by the published deadline.
