North Carolina public school units may apply for a multi-year competency-based education innovation program. Ten schools will receive $330,000 each to support planning, implementation, training, and transition to competency-based education. Applications are due October 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET.

Open to North Carolina public school units. NCDPI will prioritize schools that demonstrate strong commitment to competency-based education and assessment innovation and readiness for a multi-year instructional transformation.

Atlas Analysis

Verified active multi-year school innovation grant with meaningful award size and a substantial planning/implementation component. Direct N9+/healthcare fit is limited unless a school embeds health, wellness or career pathways into its broader model, but Atlas grant-production value is significant because applications require a coherent multi-year transformation strategy, training plan and implementation readiness.
