The Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging (MLCOA), through the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, accepted FY27 grant applications through September 15, 2026; the application period is now closed for local senior-safety, crime-prevention, and TRIAD projects serving Mississippi residents age 60 and older.
Funding: Up to $5,000 per grant. Awards are reimbursement-only, so the grantee must pay vendors first and submit documented reimbursement requests. The official materials do not state a matching or cost-share requirement.
Deadline: September 15, 2026. The controlling DPS page and application do not publish a clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Eligibility: The primary applicant and fiscal agent must be a Mississippi county or municipal law-enforcement agency, and only one application per county will be accepted. Applicants must form or maintain a coalition that includes law enforcement, social-service organizations, and community partners, with each partner’s role identified.
Eligible costs: Approved senior-safety and TRIAD educational materials, limited food/refreshments for approved educational events, listed crime-prevention and senior-safety items such as smoke alarms, grab bars, first-aid kits, shower chairs, blood-pressure monitors, digital thermometers, medical ID bracelets and related items, plus eligible E911 address-sign supplies. Equipment not specifically listed requires written MLCOA approval before purchase. Travel, clothing, heaters, alcohol, and unsupported or unapproved costs are not allowable.
Submission: The signed application is submitted to Carla Taylor at ctaylor@dps.ms.gov. Awarded grantees must attend in-person implementation training on October 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at DPS Headquarters in Pearl.
Atlas Opportunity Score: 72/100 for eligible Mississippi law-enforcement applicants with an active senior-safety coalition and the cash-flow capacity to operate on reimbursement.
N9+ Fit: 0/100. Nonagon N9+ is not a listed allowable item, this program is capped at $5,000, and unlisted equipment requires written preapproval. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not an eligible direct applicant. QC Healthcare vendor fit is not advanced because no verified catalog-to-allowable-item match has been established.
