Opportunity Overview
The Texas Education Agency is accepting 2026 AP-IB Teacher Training Reimbursement applications from Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools for qualifying Advanced Placement, Pre-AP, International Baccalaureate and related advanced-course teacher training.
Funding
Texas appropriated $9.25 million for the FY2026 Advanced Placement Initiative, which supports both student exam-fee subsidies and teacher-training reimbursements. The Teacher Training Reimbursement may be up to $450 per eligible teacher, but the final reimbursement is not guaranteed at $450 because TEA determines the amount from funds remaining after AP/IB exam subsidies are paid. If available funds are insufficient, approved reimbursements may be less than $450 per teacher.
Deadline
The current TEA guidance states that the 2026 TTR application opened August 15, 2026 and closes September 30, 2026. TEA’s current public page does not publish a specific closing clock time or time zone for this application, so Atlas does not invent one. Applicants should submit before the final day.
Eligibility
Applications must be submitted by a campus or district AP/IB program coordinator. Individual teachers may not apply directly. Eligible reimbursement requests are for Texas public-school teachers employed by the district that paid the training expense, who completed TEA-approved training, are assigned to teach qualifying grades 6-12 AP, Pre-AP, IB, DP, MYP or equivalent advanced courses aligned with the training, and satisfy TEA’s reimbursement-frequency and training requirements.
Eligible Training and Costs
TEA identifies qualifying training pathways including endorsed AP Summer Institutes, certain college coursework, endorsed IB workshops, NMSI training, SpringBoard institutes, approved university institutes, approved online training, AP Computer Science Principles provider training, and AP Mentoring. Reimbursement covers eligible training registration costs. Travel, meals and lodging are not reimbursable.
Submission Controls
The application must be submitted through TEA’s published 2026 AP-IB Qualtrics application. Emailed, mailed, stamped or faxed applications are not accepted. The application requires district and campus identifiers, coordinator/business-office/superintendent contact information, eligible teacher names and TEA Unique IDs, training registration cost, hours, course assignment, provider and training details. Training certificates must be retained, with the required combined certificate PDF uploaded as directed by TEA.
Atlas Assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 81/100. This is a statewide, currently open education-funding opportunity with broad Texas public-school applicability and a straightforward reimbursement structure, though per-teacher dollars are modest and the final reimbursement depends on residual program funding. N9+ Direct Vendor Fit: 0/100. The funding is for teacher training reimbursement and does not create a legitimate medical-device, telehealth or remote physical-examination procurement pathway. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100.
Applicant Profile and Next Action
Realistic applicants are Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools with eligible AP/IB teachers whose qualifying training costs were paid by the district. The appropriate internal lead is the district or campus AP/IB program coordinator, working with the business office and superintendent as required by the application. Confirm teacher eligibility, preserve training certificates, assemble the required teacher and training data, and submit through the official TEA application before September 30, 2026.
