Opportunity Overview
The South Carolina Arts Commission School Arts Support (SAS) Grants — FY2027 help eligible South Carolina schools acquire supplies, materials, equipment, professional development, arts residencies, and qualifying creative arts therapy services that support student outcomes through arts curriculum, arts-enhanced curriculum, or arts-integrated curriculum.
Funding and Deadline
Applicants may request up to $2,500 per grant. The application period runs August 25, 2026 through February 25, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Applications must be submitted at least five weeks before grant-funded activities begin or purchases are made. The grant period is September 29, 2026 through May 31, 2027.
Funding is reimbursement-based, so grantees must pay eligible expenses upfront and then seek reimbursement.
Eligibility
For K-12 projects, eligible applicants are South Carolina public, private, and charter K-12 schools, subject to the detailed eligibility rules. Private and charter schools must meet current South Carolina charity-registration and federal tax-exempt requirements or apply through a qualified tax-exempt fiscal agent/receiver. Public school 4K eligibility is limited to qualifying public-school or school-district providers meeting the program’s 4K requirements.
All organizations must provide a valid Unique Entity ID (UEI) to receive an award. Individual public schools may use their district’s UEI. An arts teacher within the school or an outside arts professional must serve as a partnering expert in the art form used.
Eligible Costs and Project Uses
K-12 providers may use funds for arts materials, equipment and supplies; professional development; arts residencies; and qualifying creative arts therapy projects or experiences. Creative arts therapy projects require additional school guidance-counselor support documentation. Grant funds are intended to supplement, not replace, the school’s existing arts budget.
Match Requirements
K-12 providers generally have a 1:2 grantee-to-SCAC match, meaning the grantee contributes $0.50 for each $1.00 awarded. The K-12 match is waived for schools on the South Carolina Department of Education list of schools with low-income student populations above 70 percent. For qualifying 4K providers, the general match is 1:3, meaning $0.33 of grantee funds for each $1.00 awarded; the 4K match is waived for providers located in SCAC Opportunity Counties. All required match for this grant category must be cash; in-kind match is not allowed.
Restrictions
Grant funds cannot pay for direct student services such as field trips or student registration/travel fees for arts events, food, clothing, fundraising, construction or renovation, debt retirement, or activities outside the approved grant period. Applicants should review the full current SCAC guidelines before committing costs.
Priority
SCAC provides additional consideration for applicants located in or serving its Opportunity Initiative Counties: Allendale, Bamberg, Calhoun, Edgefield, Fairfield, Hampton, Lee, Marlboro, McCormick, Saluda, and Union. Priority may also be given to schools with low-income student populations above 70 percent.
Submission
Applications are submitted through the South Carolina Arts Commission grants portal using Foundant. Earlier applications are encouraged because each project start date must be at least 35 days after submission.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 60/100. This is a legitimate, long-window South Carolina school funding source with explicit support for equipment, professional development, and creative arts therapy, but the $2,500 ceiling limits project scale.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The grant is arts-specific, and the published eligible-cost rules do not provide a legitimate basis to position the Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform.
QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. Creative arts therapy is an eligible project type, but the program does not establish a role for general clinical staffing, remote examinations, telehealth, or QC Healthcare services.
Direct-vendor disposition: Dr. Miltie, LLC is not the intended applicant. Any vendor purchase must arise from a school-led arts project and follow the applicant’s procurement requirements.
Next Action
Eligible South Carolina schools should confirm provider type, UEI, any charity/tax-exempt or fiscal-agent requirements, match obligation or waiver, arts-partner requirement, and project timing before submitting through the SCAC grants portal.
