Funding: General applications requesting less than $2,000 or more than $20,000 usually are not considered, although the Foundation may make exceptions. Requests for more than half of total project cost receive low priority. Matching funds are encouraged and may be required as a challenge condition.

Deadline: Rolling. Letters of Inquiry are accepted throughout the year through GOapply. After LOI review, qualifying applicants may be invited to submit a full application. SDCF states that LOI decisions are generally provided within approximately 15 business days and final grant decisions within approximately 90 days after a full application is submitted.

Eligibility: Applicants should be public nonprofit organizations recognized under IRS Publication 78, or projects working through a verified fiscal sponsor. Repeat applications from the same organization within 12 months generally are not allowed, subject to stated exceptions. A final report from prior SDCF funding must be complete before another request will be considered.

Cost and procurement considerations: Capital improvements receive low priority. The Foundation generally does not fund transportation vehicles or equipment purchases over $10,000. Governmental operating expenses are ineligible. Due diligence is required before disbursement.

Atlas Opportunity Score: 58/100. N9+ Fit: 42/100. QC Healthcare Fit: 25/100. The Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform is a possible but limited fit where a nonprofit health project legitimately includes telehealth-enabled clinical access, guided examinations, vitals or remote assessment. The general equipment-over-$10,000 low-priority rule materially limits device-heavy proposals. A recent South Dakota Fund award to Brookings Behavioral Health and Wellness supported EHR upgrades, telehealth expansion and clinical-documentation technology, establishing a relevant technology-access precedent. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not a qualifying direct applicant under the stated nonprofit eligibility rules; any pursuit should be eligible-applicant-led.

Outreach posture: Publish for funding completeness and targeted nonprofit project development. Before outreach, confirm the organization has not applied to SDCF within the preceding 12 months, has no incomplete prior final report, can demonstrate community support/matching resources, and has a project budget that fits the program’s funding and equipment priorities.
