The Yellowstone Foundation is accepting 2026 applications for its Good Neighbor Grant Program, with Montana nonprofit organizations receiving priority.
Funding: the Foundation will award five grants of $5,000 each, for a total annual pool of $25,000. Funding may support a specific project or general operations and must be used within 12 months of the award date.
Deadline: applications are due October 15, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. MT. Email submission is preferred. Mailed applications must be postmarked before October 15, 2026.
Eligible applicants: nonprofit organizations holding 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, in good standing with the IRS and state of incorporation, able to use the grant within 12 months, and aligned with the Foundation mission. Private individuals, for-profit entities, and government agencies are not eligible. Montana organizations receive priority, although mission-aligned organizations elsewhere in the Mountain West may also be considered.
Program fit: supported work includes residential treatment or therapeutic services for youth and young adults in crisis, educational programming and academic support, family reunification and community reintegration, vocational and life-skills development, foster care, adoption, juvenile-justice diversion, mental-health counseling, family support, and academic enrichment.
Required attachments: IRS determination letter, most recent board-approved annual budget, most recent financial statements, current board list, and the completed grant application. A brief organizational biography or one-page overview is optional.
