Opportunity Overview
The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) offers Community-Led Learning Event Support for Wisconsin-based learning events that build knowledge, skills, and networks among current and future Wisconsin-based health professionals. The opportunity was re-issued in March 2026 and applications are accepted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available.
Funding
Eligible applicants may request up to $5,000 per learning event. AHW states that up to $100,000 annually is available to support up to 20 community-led learning events. Awards use a cost-reimbursement model and are limited to one award per event.
Eligibility
The learning event host must be an eligible Wisconsin-based 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) organization, or a Wisconsin government-based entity or organization, and must have an EIN. The event must include an in-person learning component and be held in Wisconsin. A majority of participants must be Wisconsin-based current health professionals, early-career professionals, or the next generation of leaders working to improve Wisconsin health. The event must build participant capacity through defined learning objectives and use new or innovative content or approaches.
Timing and Submission
Applications are rolling while funds remain available. AHW recommends consulting approximately 90 days before the event. Submission through the official online application form is required approximately 60 days before the event; submissions later than 60 days before the event require AHW approval. After technical review, required signatures are completed through an AHW-initiated DocuSign process, generally within three business days of the signature request. No paper or emailed applications are accepted.
Required Application Components
The online application includes event, host, collaborator, alignment, geography, audience, learning objective, impact, and evaluation information. Required supporting materials include the AHW-provided budget workbook, budget justification, and non-supplanting attestation. Narrative prompts are limited to 2,000 characters including spaces per prompt.
Allowable and Restricted Costs
Funding supports direct, non-personnel, event-specific expenses such as venue and audiovisual costs, refreshments, speaker or consultant expenses and related travel, printing and appropriate meeting supplies, and other justified direct event expenses with AHW approval. Funds may not support personnel salary or fringe, professional development solely for the host organization’s own employees, events outside Wisconsin, virtual-only events unless AHW approves an exception, political or lobbying activity, fundraising or primarily networking events, alcohol, indirect or routine operating costs, attendee scholarships or stipends, debt reduction, entertainment, patient-care or clinical-service reimbursement, publishing fees, stipends or flat fees, or supplanting.
