The Windham Foundation’s Fall 2026 Grants Program supports Vermont nonprofit work under themes that include Enhanced Learning, mentoring, wellness, housing, outdoor activities, health access and senior programs.
Deadline
Fall 2026 applications are due September 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The controlling Foundation pages do not state a time zone.
Eligibility and funding structure
Applicants must be private nonprofit organizations tax-exempt under IRC 501(c)(3), and the organization or funded program must be in Vermont. An organization may submit only one application in a 12-month period and should apply no more than three years out of five. Municipalities, individuals and several other listed categories are not eligible.
The Foundation does not publish a current per-award maximum or total Fall 2026 pool on the controlling pages. It will not fund more than 50% of a project, so the application must identify confirmed and anticipated funding for the balance. Supported proposals may include operating support, special initiatives, capacity building, and matching or challenge grants.
Application requirements
Applications are electronic. Required materials include a proposal narrative of no more than three pages, organization and project budgets as applicable, a recent audited or compiled financial statement or qualifying Form 990, brief board biographies, and funding sources of $1,000 or more. The Foundation evaluates mission fit, measurable impact, organizational and financial strength, community support and sustainability.
Atlas fit
Atlas Opportunity Score: 72/100. N9+ Fit: 25/100 conditional. QC Healthcare Fit: 10/100 conditional. Health-access and wellness projects can be relevant, but the current guidance does not specifically establish telehealth equipment, remote physical-examination technology or clinical-services allowability. Any N9+/QC positioning therefore requires a concrete eligible applicant project and confirmation of cost allowability.
