Opportunity Overview
Open West Virginia family-medicine funding opportunity. The Family Medicine Foundation of West Virginia Grant Program supports projects, studies, and events that benefit family practice. This is a direct clinical and healthcare-services nexus under the Atlas publication-scope gate. The Foundation publishes no formal solicitation number.
Funding
Awards are limited to up to $5,000 for one year. Funding is restricted to direct costs. Indirect costs are not permitted. Rebudgeting is permitted only with approval from the Foundation Finance Committee.
Deadline
Applications are due September 15, 2026. The controlling source does not publish an exact clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer either. Funding decisions are scheduled by November 30 of the current year, with funding beginning by January 31 of the following year.
Eligibility
The principal investigator or applicant must be a family physician in West Virginia, or the study, event, or project must be conducted in West Virginia at an approved Family Practice Residency Program, Department of Family Medicine, Family Practice organization or association, Family Practice office, or Health Care Center.
Application and Review Requirements
The application must follow the Foundation’s Grant Application format and include required signatures. Review criteria include relevance to family practice, justification for philanthropic support, study design and data analysis where research is proposed, appropriateness of the event or function, and cost compared with expected benefit. If the request is part of a matching-funds grant, the applicant must include a copy of the related grant application and award notice.
Costs, Match, and Restrictions
The Foundation states that only direct costs may be funded and that indirect costs are prohibited. The published guidance does not impose a universal mandatory match. Where an applicant is using the request as part of a separate matching-funds grant, the related application and award notice are required. The public guidance does not expressly preapprove medical equipment, telehealth hardware, outside consultants, or a specific vendor, so Atlas does not assume those costs are allowable.
Applicant Responsibilities
Funded applicants are responsible for accurate data and reports, proper use of funds, annual status reporting by September 15 while the project is active, acknowledgment of Foundation support in the final report or resulting publications, and a brief summary report at project completion.
Submission and Contact
Applicants should complete the current FMFWV grant request/application using the Foundation’s published application process and required format. The controlling grants page lists info@fmfwv.org and 304-733-6485 for program contact. Atlas does not infer an email-only submission method where the Foundation has not expressly stated one.
N9+ and Dr. Miltie Fit
N9+ Fit Score: 45/100, conditional. A legitimate family-medicine pilot, research, education, screening, access, or care-delivery project could potentially incorporate the Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform, but the Foundation does not expressly confirm equipment, platform, or vendor costs as allowable. No N9+ funding claim should be made unless the applicant-defined project and Foundation cost rules support it.
QC Healthcare Fit: 20/100, conditional. A services component could fit only if it is integral to an eligible applicant-controlled family-medicine project and confirmed allowable. Dr. Miltie direct-applicant fit: 0/100; the eligible applicant classes are West Virginia family physicians and qualifying West Virginia family-medicine or health-care entities.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 90/100. The opportunity has a direct family-medicine nexus, authoritative statewide eligibility rules, a current open deadline, and a simple direct-cost structure. The primary constraints are the modest $5,000 ceiling, the absence of a published closing clock time/time zone, and the need to confirm project-specific cost allowability.
Priority organization: Southern West Virginia Health System – Organization Opportunity Score 92/100. Its current official materials document active family-medicine services, multiple southern West Virginia health-center locations, preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and Patient-Centered Medical Home care. Any application must remain organization-controlled and based on its own project need, budget, approvals, and prior commitments.
Next Actions
Confirm the eligible family-medicine applicant and applicant-controlled project, complete the FMFWV application in the required format with signatures and a direct-cost budget, include matching-grant documentation only if applicable, and submit through the Foundation’s current application process by September 15, 2026. Confirm receipt with FMFWV if the submission workflow does not provide a receipt.
