Broad Eligibility

Eligible applicants include individual producers, cooperatives, for-profit businesses, nonprofit organizations, local governments, schools and other organizations aligned with the program. Applicants must be headquartered in Utah, the project must occur in Utah, at least 51% of project-related product must be grown or raised in Utah, and at least 25% of project-related product must be distributed to or serve rural Utah. Additional program requirements and eligible-use rules apply.

Atlas Analysis

A strong rural population-health and food-system opportunity rather than a clinical-care grant. The program can strengthen rural nutrition access and community resilience by expanding Utah food production, processing, cold storage, aggregation, distribution and market infrastructure. It is particularly relevant to qualifying nonprofits, local governments, schools and community-based partners that can connect food-system capacity to rural health, nutrition access or community wellness outcomes without overstating the program as direct healthcare funding.

Archived Opportunity

Utah’s 2026 Food Security Grant, funded through the Rural Health Transformation Program, closed on August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Atlas has therefore moved the record to Expired status rather than leave it in the active-grant inventory.

Funding Structure

UDAF anticipated awarding up to $9,265,098.80 through three tracks: microgrants of $1,000-$10,000, startup awards of $10,000-$50,000, and standard awards of $10,000-$1,000,000. Awards are reimbursement-based.

Program Purpose

The grant supports Utah food production, processing, storage, distribution, market access and local food promotion, with emphasis on rural Utah. Eligible applicants included producers, cooperatives, for-profit businesses, nonprofits, local governments, schools and other aligned organizations meeting the program’s Utah-product and rural-distribution requirements.

Successor Funding Watch

Atlas will monitor UDAF and Utah DHHS for a future RHTP food-security round. Organizations planning ahead should retain supply-chain bottleneck analysis, equipment quotes, rural distribution data, Utah-grown product sourcing documentation, UEI status and evidence that a proposed project can increase rural availability of eligible Utah-grown or Utah-raised food.

Atlas Strategic Analysis

This was a rural food-system infrastructure opportunity, not a clinical technology grant. N9+ did not have a defensible direct-vendor pathway.
