Tulane University’s Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (WSPH) and School of Medicine (SOM) are accepting proposals for their 2026 Collaborative Research Seed Awards.

The program expects to fund at least four 12-month projects at up to $100,000 each. Each proposal must include at least one primary faculty investigator from WSPH and one from SOM, with both serving in substantive co-leadership roles. External partners, including healthcare organizations, community-based organizations and other collaborators, may participate.

Priority areas include cancer, infectious disease, cardiovascular disease, aging, artificial intelligence in health, health disparities, housing insecurity, Gulf South health challenges and disaster response. The RFA specifically highlights regional issues such as diabetes, obesity, environmental health and maternal and child health.

Allowable costs include research staff or assistants, research materials, data collection, supplies, publication and analysis costs, partnership engagement or stipends, and pilot-project costs. Faculty salary support is not allowed. Applicants are expected to identify a future external funding opportunity that the seed project will position them to pursue.

Deadline: October 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM CDT. Applications are submitted as a single PDF to Tulane’s WSPH research office.

Atlas analysis: N9+ Fit Score 92/100 for an appropriately designed Tulane-led pilot involving clinician-guided remote physical examination, remote patient monitoring, rural or Gulf South chronic-disease care, maternal-child health, or health-disparities research. Dr. Miltie is not eligible to apply directly because the required primary investigators must be Tulane WSPH and SOM faculty, but Dr. Miltie/QC Healthcare can be evaluated as an external technology or healthcare partner. Device-specific cost allowability should be confirmed in the proposed budget rather than assumed.
