Opportunity Overview
The TFCU Foundation Shield and Service Grant supports Oklahoma nonprofits that connect veterans with needed services and organizations supporting mental wellness for first responders. The Foundation states that 2026 awards range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on available funding, and that applications open in September 2026. Its current program page provides a live Apply link to the Foundation’s Microsoft Forms application.
Eligibility
Applicants must be registered Oklahoma 501(c)(3) organizations. New or start-up organizations are asked not to apply until they have a completed Form 990 reflecting at least one year of operations. The Foundation does not consider organizations outside Oklahoma, individuals, political parties or candidates, private foundations, dinners/luncheons or other indirect support, events or sporting events, marketing/advertising or giveaway items, or sectarian, denominational or religious causes, organizations, or events.
Funding and Application Rules
Awards are year-over-year; the Foundation does not fund multi-year grants or capital campaigns. The controlling public page does not publish a solicitation number, fixed application deadline, deadline time or time zone, mandatory match/cost share, detailed allowable-cost schedule, or a complete required-attachment list. Those items should not be inferred. Applications are submitted through the Foundation’s linked Microsoft Forms application. Atlas Strategic Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 70/100. The opportunity is current, Oklahoma-specific, directly aligned to veteran services and first-responder mental wellness, but the award ceiling is modest and the public rules leave the exact closing date and detailed budget/attachment mechanics unpublished. N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The published purpose does not establish a remote physical-examination, clinical device, diagnostic equipment, or telehealth acquisition pathway. Dr. Miltie/QC Healthcare direct-applicant fit is 0/100 because the published applicant class is Oklahoma 501(c)(3) organizations.
Realistic Applicant Screening
Organizations with direct mission alignment include Oklahoma nonprofits focused on first-responder trauma resilience and veteran health/wellness. Examples for screening include Warrior’s Rest Foundation and Honoring America’s Warriors. Each candidate still requires current 501(c)(3) standing, Form 990/operating-history verification where applicable, project-specific fit, same-opportunity deduplication, and Email Opt-Out review before any outreach.
