Opportunity Overview
The Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board Career Exploration Expansion Grants (CEEG) support equitable access to high-quality career exploration for youth and young adults. The program is funded through the Rhode Island Job Development Fund and is open to eligible Rhode Island K-12 schools and community-based organizations that satisfy the current program-guide requirements.
Funding and Deadline
Total FY26 funding available is $100,000. Eligible applicants may receive up to $5,000 per calendar year, with reimbursement of up to 100% of approved eligible activity costs. Applications are rolling by activity date and must be submitted at least two weeks before the planned activity. The program does not publish one fixed calendar deadline, clock time, or time zone.
Eligible Applicants and Activities
Eligible applicants include Rhode Island K-12 public, private, and charter schools and qualifying Rhode Island nonprofit community-based organizations. Applicants must meet the program guide requirements and be registered and approved in Ocean State Procures before applying.
Supported activities can include employer site visits, industry tours, guest speakers, career panels, industry demonstrations, job shadowing, virtual career exploration, career fairs or showcases, technical instruction, workforce-readiness activities, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, competitions, cultural experiences, and other hands-on career exploration. Funded activities should meaningfully connect participants with employers or industry professionals and career-pathway information.
Eligible and Ineligible Costs
Generally eligible costs include speaker or presenter fees, career-exploration materials and supplies, participation costs, participant transportation, and subscriptions to virtual career-exploration platforms. Technology rental and certain participant equipment or third-party facilitator costs may be considered subject to Governor’s Workforce Board approval.
Organization-owned capital equipment, applicant employee wages, grant or program administration, grant preparation, marketing or recruitment, stipends, scholarships or tuition assistance, cash or gift cards, air travel or hotel costs, and equipment, software, or platforms unrelated to career exploration are not eligible.
Application Requirements
The program uses an online application. Required materials include a current W-9, the CEEG budget template, an activity description, Ocean State Procures registration, and schedule or supporting documentation when applicable. Program review typically takes approximately 10 to 15 business days. Costs incurred before the contract start date are not reimbursable.
Technology and Dr. Miltie Relevance
N9+ Fit Score: 15/100 conditional. A Nonagon N9+ capital purchase is not an eligible use. A narrow role could exist only where an approved healthcare-career exploration activity legitimately uses the N9+ as a demonstration tool or approved virtual-career component.
QC Healthcare Fit: 20/100 conditional. Relevance is limited to a legitimate healthcare-career speaker, facilitator, or demonstration role that independently satisfies program requirements. No clinical-services deployment fit is assumed.
Atlas Assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 82/100. This is a verified, open Rhode Island education and workforce opportunity with a clear $5,000 annual cap and broad school/community-based applicant eligibility. It is useful for career-exploration programming but is not a strong direct N9+ or QC Healthcare deployment opportunity, so Atlas does not force a technology fit.
How to Apply
Eligible applicants should confirm Ocean State Procures registration, review the current program guide, assemble the required W-9, budget and activity materials, and submit the online application at least two weeks before the planned activity. The Governor’s Workforce Board lists dlt.gwbinfo@dlt.ri.gov and (401) 462-8860 for program assistance.
