Chorus America 2027 Music Education Partnership Grants
Chorus America is accepting proposals for up to $50,000 per grant over two years to support partnerships between choral music organizations and community organizations that increase access to group singing for underserved students from early childhood through grade 12. Supported projects must occur during the 2027–28 and 2028–29 school years, with selected grantees joining an online peer-learning cohort.
Geographic and organizational eligibility
The 2027 cycle is not open nationally to all U.S. locations. Eligible projects must serve one of four designated regions: British Columbia and Northwest U.S.; Central Appalachia; Southwest U.S.; or Upper Midwest U.S. The official eligibility page provides the controlling list of states and eligible counties within those regions; applicants in partly eligible states must verify county inclusion. U.S. applicants must be Section 501(c)(3) organizations or fiscally sponsored projects with a qualified 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor; Canadian applicants must be registered charities or have a qualifying registered charity fiscal sponsor. Groups whose mission is not exclusively music-focused may apply if they plan to partner with a choral music organization and community partner. Schools, districts, childcare providers, cultural groups, faith-based organizations and community centers may be project partners.
Funding categories, matching funds and exclusions
Up to $50,000 USD total per recipient across the two-year project period. The funder considers two organization categories: volunteer-run organizations or those with annual budgets below $150,000, and organizations with budgets of at least $150,000 and at least one regular employee. No matching funds are required. A project budget is mandatory. Ineligible uses include capital campaigns, endowment funding, fundraising events, religious worship or instruction, direct grants to individuals, lobbying, political activities and discretionary subgranting. Faith-based groups are eligible only for nonreligious programming; projects taking place solely in the 2026–27 school year are outside the funded period.
How to apply
Deadline: Friday, November 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Complete the official online eligibility quiz and application narrative, identify planned choral and community partners, describe students served and learning outcomes, and upload a project budget for both school years and tax-exempt or registered-charity proof. Fiscally sponsored applicants must also upload a sponsorship agreement. A signed partner agreement is not required at application time, but identified community partners strengthen the proposal. Read the geographic and organizational eligibility, official application instructions, and funder FAQ.
