The Luzerne Foundation — 2027 Nonprofit Accelerator
Letter of Inquiry (LOI) period: November 2–16, 2026. LOI deadline: Monday, November 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The funder’s program page specifies the closing time but not a time zone. The foundation is selecting nonprofit organizations for a yearlong, competitively awarded leadership and organizational capacity-building program supporting communities in Luzerne County, Hazleton and Weatherly in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Funding conditional on program completion
Selected organizations participate in training and support that includes eight interactive education sessions, coaching, consultations, peer learning, program and funding connections, leadership and fundraising development, and other professional resources. The foundation advertises a $50,000 operating grant, delivered through a fund established at The Luzerne Foundation, upon successful completion of the program. This is not an immediate $50,000 unrestricted award for submitting an LOI. The organization must be selected and successfully complete program requirements. A universal total funding pool, matching percentage and payment schedule are not published in the accessible public materials.
Who should apply
Applicants are nonprofit organizations and leaders seeking to strengthen operations, sustainability, community impact and leadership while serving Luzerne County, Hazleton, Weatherly or other explicitly designated qualifying communities. Selection is based on the current application requirements and alignment with funding partners’ priorities. The 2027 program is supported by The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Moses Taylor Foundation and Pasco L. Schiavo Memorial Charitable Fund. Eligibility specifics and required LOI documents are controlled by the current portal and must be reviewed before submission.
