Funding

Grants are generally made for a one year period and the Foundation typically does not consider multi year funding. The published guidelines do not state a mandatory applicant match or cost share requirement. Applicants must show the requested amount and provide a program budget identifying other funding sources.
Eligibility and restrictions
Grants are limited to nonprofit institutions or agencies with appropriate Internal Revenue Service documentation, and the Foundation’s funding restrictions specify 501(c)(3) public charity status. No grants are made directly to individuals. The Foundation also excludes political and lobbying focused organizations, labor unions, fraternal and veterans organizations, film and publishing projects, business development, investments or loans, local athletic programs, graduation events, foreign based programs, and medical care, education, or other direct support for individuals.
Application package
The Foundation does not use a special application form and does not accept grant applications by email or Internet. A signed hard copy proposal on organizational letterhead must be mailed to Chairman, Grants Committee, The William K. Warren Foundation, Post Office Box 470372, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74147-0372.
The proposal should include a one to two page cover letter with the organization, program, goals, requested amount, legal IRS name, contact information, and any applicable project deadline. The narrative may be no more than three pages and should address organizational history and mission, collaboration opportunities, recent achievements, an evaluation plan and timeframe, provable benefits, and case studies demonstrating program efficacy. Required supporting materials include a program budget with other funding sources, the overall organizational budget, the most recent independent audited financial statements if available, a current board list, current nonprofit and tax exempt documentation including the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter, and other relevant support.
