Brighter Tomorrow Foundation FY 2027 Grants

The Brighter Tomorrow Foundation, a Committee Advised Fund under The Dayton Foundation, is accepting FY 2027 grant applications for projects benefiting children and adults with developmental disabilities living in Montgomery County, Ohio.

Funding and deadline

Organizations may request up to $10,000, with one application permitted per organization. Applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 30, 2026. The controlling public materials do not state a time zone, so Atlas does not infer one. No total program pool or mandatory match or cost share requirement is published.

Eligible applicants and priorities

The current application identifies eligible applicants as 501(c)(3) organizations and governmental nonprofit agencies. The Foundation’s public webpage also references academic institutions, but the current application does not, so academic eligibility should be confirmed before relying on it.

Current priority areas are Housing, Transportation, Lasting Equipment, Education, and Recreation, Fitness, and Socialization. Lasting Equipment includes adaptive and other equipment intended to make daily life easier or safer, with examples such as vans, lifts, car seats, exercise or therapy equipment, and special tools. Education examples include computers, software, cameras, projection or recording equipment, and art supplies.

Restrictions and submission

The Foundation states that it does not fund capital campaigns, operating expenses, retroactive activities, basic research, staff development, activities that supplant existing funding, staff salaries or wages, projects directed to people with developmental disabilities outside Montgomery County, individual applicants, or carryover funding.

Applicants must complete the Foundation’s application in Word format and email it, with the required PDF documentation, to Greg Darling at gdarling@daytonfoundation.org. Electronic signatures are accepted. Incomplete applications are not reviewed, applicants must use 11 point font, and the application form must not be altered. Required documentation includes the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter when applicable and the CEO or Executive Director signature. Award notifications are expected by February 28, 2027, and the final report is due October 16, 2027.

Atlas fit assessment

Atlas Opportunity Score: 88/100. N9+ Fit Score: 55/100, conditional applicant led. A legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform should be considered only where an eligible Montgomery County applicant owns a qualifying developmental disability project, the technology is integral to that project, and the Foundation confirms the proposed cost is allowable. Dr. Miltie or QC Healthcare is not a direct eligible applicant under the current nonprofit and governmental applicant rule. Atlas does not recommend forcing a device fit.
