Northeast Farm Credit AgEnhancement — December 2026 Grant Round

The Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement Program, a joint initiative of Farm Credit East and CoBank, offers real grants to organizations proposing projects with a demonstrable long-term benefit to Northeast agriculture, forest products or commercial fishing. The December 2026 round is open.

Individual Grants and Deadline

Individual grants range from $500 to $10,000. The current application deadline is December 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time (EST). Farm Credit considers proposals three times annually; applications received after a cycle’s closing time may be held for the next round. A universal cash-match percentage, required reimbursement model or specific total December-round award pool is not published. The application must disclose other financial supporters and a detailed project budget.

Eligible Projects and Geographic Scope

Supported projects strengthen agriculture, commercial fishing or forest products in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont. Eligible themes include agricultural leadership and youth development at regional scale, beginning-farmer opportunity, market and economic development, public education concerning Northeast agriculture, forestry and fishing, and economic research. Statewide or regional initiatives are eligible. Applicants should demonstrate a lasting benefit to the relevant industries. The funder encourages projects fostering minority participation and may consider certain single-county proposals under its diversity objective.

Excluded Activities

The funder generally excludes county/local school projects, nonagricultural charity projects, scholarships, political support, memberships in professional societies, general operating or ongoing-program support, website administration, capital/building projects, projects for individual farms, recurring business meetings or conferences, and indirect project costs. The funder’s stated exception for certain one-county diversity proposals does not override other program restrictions. Any Farm Credit East or CoBank director or employee involved must disclose that affiliation.

Application Requirements

Submit the official online application with a letter of no more than two pages describing the project, expected outcomes, requested funding, partner contributions, planned dates and proposed recognition of the grant. Include a detailed project budget showing total project cost and Farm Credit’s requested portion; optional supporting materials may total up to three pages. The funder normally notifies applicants of decisions within 30 days after the closing date. Contact AgEnhancement@FarmCreditEast.com for questions.
