The National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging (NIA), is accepting applications under RFA-AG-27-007, Renewal of the Clinician-Scientists Transdisciplinary Aging Research (Clin-STAR) Coordinating Center (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed).
The Clin-STAR Coordinating Center is a national resource for clinician-investigators across specialties and disciplines who are developing careers in aging research. The center supports scientific education, networking, collaboration, mentoring, career development, specialty interest groups, meetings, investigator resources, and interdisciplinary aging-research activities designed to improve patient-centered care for older adults.
Deadline: New and renewal applications are due September 29, 2026 at 5:00 PM local time of the applicant organization. The NOFO opened August 29, 2026. No late applications will be accepted.
Funding: NIA intends to commit $1.5 million in total costs in FY2027 to fund one award. Application budgets may not exceed $1.5 million in total costs. The maximum project duration is five years. Cost sharing is not required.
Eligibility: Eligible domestic applicants include public and private institutions of higher education, nonprofits, small businesses and other for-profit organizations, state and local governments, Tribal governments and organizations, eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories, independent school districts, housing authorities, faith-based and community-based organizations, and regional organizations. Foreign organizations and non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations are not eligible, although foreign components are allowed subject to current NIH restrictions. Applicant organizations may submit more than one scientifically distinct application.
Submission: Applications may be prepared and submitted through NIH ASSIST, Grants.gov Workspace, or an institutional system-to-system solution and must be tracked through eRA Commons. Required registrations must be active before submission, and PD/PIs must have valid eRA Commons credentials and linked ORCID identifiers. Clinical trials are not allowed.
Atlas fit: This is a high-value aging, geriatrics, clinician-scientist development, research-network, mentoring, workforce-development, and interdisciplinary-care opportunity. Although for-profit organizations are structurally eligible and no match is required, a credible direct Dr. Miltie prime pursuit would require demonstrated national aging-research leadership, clinician-scientist mentoring infrastructure, multi-specialty research networks, career-development programming, scientific convening capacity, and NIH cooperative-center administration. Preferred posture: Partner-Led / Aging Research Coordinating Center.
