Opportunity Overview
The Brindle Foundation is accepting proposals for its 2026 Early Childhood Initiative, focused on prenatal to age three in New Mexico. The Foundation offers one and two year project or program grants through two funding streams: statewide early childhood systems strengthening and direct services for babies and families in specified northern New Mexico counties and tribal lands.
Funding and Eligibility
Eligible applicants are IRS recognized nonprofit organizations, organizations using a qualifying nonprofit fiscal sponsor, government entities, and tribal nonprofit entities. First time applicants should contact Brindle Foundation staff before applying and must submit a comprehensive nondiscrimination policy. New grantee partners may request up to $20,000 per year. The public guidelines do not publish a fixed maximum for returning grantee partners and do not state a mandatory match or cost share requirement.
Funding Streams and Allowable Focus
Strengthening Early Childhood Systems in New Mexico is available across New Mexico and tribal lands. Supported approaches include statewide or tribal advocacy and policy, innovative or catalytic approaches to prenatal and early childhood needs, coordination and organization strengthening, and training, education, or research through accredited New Mexico higher education institutions.
Services for Babies and their Families supports direct services in Colfax, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe, and Taos counties or tribal lands in New Mexico. Examples include prenatal support, maternal and infant healthcare, home visiting, parent and caregiver education, workforce strengthening, and early childhood development.
Submission Requirements
Applications are submitted through the Brindle Foundation online applicant portal. Applicants who have not previously applied to Brindle, including a new department of a larger funded institution or a new partnership, must first have a brief phone call with Foundation staff; aligned applicants are then provided a registration link. The portal supports file attachments. The public guidance does not publish a complete portal attachment checklist, so Atlas does not infer additional required documents beyond the expressly stated first time applicant nondiscrimination policy.
Deadline
Applications opened September 2, 2026 and are due September 24, 2026 at 5:00 PM MDT.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 88/100. This is a well defined, open New Mexico early childhood health and education opportunity with a precise deadline, broad eligible nonprofit and governmental applicant classes, and direct maternal and infant health relevance.
N9+ Fit Score: 28/100. A limited applicant led role may be possible in a clinically justified maternal, infant, home visiting, or access model, but the public guidelines do not expressly establish equipment, telehealth, or connected examination technology as allowable costs. The Nonagon N9+ device and platform should not be force fit.
Dr. Miltie/QC direct applicant status: No Bid. Dr. Miltie and QC Healthcare are not established as eligible direct applicants under the published applicant classes. Any future role should be as an applicant selected vendor or partner only after cost allowability and project fit are confirmed.
