Vilcek Foundation 2027 Grants for U.S. Nonprofit Organizations
The Vilcek Foundation is accepting applications for its 2027 nonprofit grant cycle. This is an applicant-facing charitable grant, not a contract, individual prize, federal allocation, or procurement. It supports distinctive programs or nonprofit operations that celebrate immigrant contributions in the United States or expand public appreciation of the arts, sciences, and humanities. Priority is given to innovative, community-engaged efforts with demonstrable outcomes.
Applicant eligibility
Applicants must be U.S. or U.S.-territory-based organizations holding active IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and good standing, with their primary activities and spending in the United States or its territories. The organization must disclose its legal names, DBAs and relevant affiliations and comply with applicable nonprofit regulations. Organizations working through fiscal sponsors are not eligible. A prior unsuccessful applicant may submit a new eligible proposal; prior open-call grantees face a two-cycle waiting period, so a 2026 grantee cannot reapply until 2029.
Funding and grant period
The foundation has not published a fixed individual applicant minimum or maximum for its 2027 open call. Past-year grant amounts and the foundation’s historical cumulative grantmaking are not promised 2027 applicant awards. Awards are time-limited, non-renewable grants for a specific nonprofit program or operations. The stated eligible grant period is September 1, 2027 through August 31, 2028. The current 2027 guidelines do not state a universal cash match, reimbursement percentage, or standard indirect-cost allowance; applicants should confirm their specific proposed budget terms with the funder rather than assume one.
What the program will not fund
Excluded requests include capital construction, renovation and major capital costs; fundraising galas and award ceremonies; health or mental health services; scientific or medical research; art therapy or wellness; political campaigning or lobbying; direct services or aid to immigrants in the United States; projects primarily benefiting people outside the United States and its territories; debt, deficits, endowments, retroactive work outside the specified grant period, renewals, or repeats of previously funded programs. The organization’s work may celebrate immigrant achievements, but a direct-service immigrant assistance proposal is expressly outside scope.
Submission requirements and deadline
Applications are open now and close March 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Register and submit through the foundation’s official grant portal at https://portal.vilcek.org/grantportal/s/login/SelfRegister . Applicants must provide a signed and dated W-9 with valid EIN, IRS determination letter, filed Form 990/990-PF/990-EZ/990-N, an accountant-prepared audited or reviewed financial statement reflecting the latest fiscal-year operating budget, and a detailed project or operating budget using the foundation’s proposal template. Check the current portal instructions and application-specific prompts before submission.
