IEEE TryEngineering STEM Grant Program — 2027 Cycle
IEEE TryEngineering is accepting applications for the 2027 STEM Grant Program until November 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Funding supports pre-university engineering and technology outreach activities implemented by IEEE organizational units and active IEEE members.
Individual project funding: Introductory-level grants of up to $500 and Inspire-level grants of $1,001–$2,000 are offered. Separately listed partner-society allocations of up to $2,000–$10,000 describe the total contributions of those societies to multiple grants, not an individual award ceiling. Specific society-focused award sizes may differ and should be confirmed.
Eligibility: An active IEEE member may apply and must hold active membership no later than November 23, 2026. The program must be implemented by an IEEE operating unit; non-IEEE organizations and individuals seeking grants for themselves are not eligible. Projects should introduce school-aged children to engineering and technology, with preference for engagement with ages 5–12 and the pre-university STEM community.
Eligible and prohibited expenses: Materials, venue costs and supplies for hands-on pre-university programs may qualify. Ineligible costs include volunteer travel, honoraria, general overhead, building construction, lobbying, commercial promotion, personal loans, scholarships and awards benefiting a single person. Refreshments may not exceed 25% of grant funding. All award money must be used during 2027, with a final report due November 1, 2027.
Application and payment: Consult the official 2027 guidelines and use the linked IEEE application portal. Proposals are evaluated on program description, goals, milestones, budget, evaluation, sustainability, IEEE mission and partner priorities. Selected members may obtain advance funding through an IEEE Section or reimbursement through IEEE Concur after successful completion. Follow IEEE photo-release and working-with-children requirements. Confirm the authenticated application form and current terms before submitting.
